  • Context

    Currently, museum are perceived as outdated for most of the students and young people. This can be explained by a lack of accessibility to these museums and a lack in pedagogy to deliver the knowledge and culture that a museum must transmit. Beside, young people and students are always looking for travel, exploration and mobility. However, as without financial resources, students and youngs are stuck and higlhy limitate to fill all their discovery wishes. Finally if we melt these different facts, a gap between the discovery wish and lack of mobility of this population is immediately identifiable.

    Target

    Our main target will be the students and young people who love travelling through hitchhiking that is to say people who go from a point A to point B by asking individuals, usually strangers, for a ride in their automobile or other vehicle.
    These young men and women usually go through several cities during their trip and usually they don't have time to stay for a long period in this city and therefore they can't discover the local culture, traditions, history etc. Sometimes they just don't even know what to visit and where to visit what they like.
    They would be interest in our solution because it allows them to adapt their journey depending on which cultural discovery attract them. Furthermore, they can also meet people that are doing the same journey as them and share their mutual interest. In the end, they will also receive many gifts adapted to their interests.
    This web app, will also be a mean for museum and other cultural institution to promote their offer and their uniqueness towards these young generation.

  • He select the theme he wants to discover ( among the following : museum, gastronomy, antiquity, landscape, modern history)
  • The App design a personnalized cultural itinerary for the user.
  • Our app contains all the data about the best hitchhiking spots and "rest places", the itinary will be design according to these data and will always improve the cultural hitchhing journey
  • According to the visited spots by the hitchhiker, our app will add credit points on the user cultural score and at the end, if he has enough cultural points, he will be able to get some very interesting gifts.

    The first page that the user sees when he enter on the app.

    This seventh page represent the first step of the itinary and all the different games that can be done by the hitchhiker. The user must be able to click on the different games.


    Once the user has click on a game, he lands on a page thats explains the three different challenges that awaits him in this game. Here the three challenges are pictures that has to be taken and uploaded.


    Afterwards, he arrives on the second game that once again detailed the challenges. For the second game, the challenges are an MCQ concerning the city. On the top right corner, the score is indicated. This score evolves according on wheter he completes the different challenges or not.


    He finally arrives on the last game that contains three challenges. The first and the second challenges is a MCQ and the third is a picture that must be taken.


    This page shows the next step of the itinary with a new city to visit.

    How to use the App

    The primary use of our app is to offer a better and free access to culture trough the creation of a personalized cultural hitchhiking itinary. Every user indicates is journey and the app does all the work for you. Through the journey, to make it more fun and add a gaming part, we have included some challenges to complete, for the hitchhikers. These challenges take the form of a "Picture Exploration Game", that is to say you have to take photos of some painting in the room of a specific museum for example. There is also a "Quizz Game" about the city or a historical monument or something else. And finally there is a " Find this place game " which means that you have to search a specific place in the city that is most of the time very beautiful, not very turistic and atypical. Once all the challenges completed you get a score and a ranking and you can move to the next city on your journey if you want.

    Technical details

    The different tools we are going to use

    Our service is based on a software connecting our application to the position of the hitchhiker. Therefore, the GPS the user is connected to the app so that the destinations can be dowloaded, the routes calculated.

    The app must gain access to the camera of the user's smartphone, so that the user can complete the easily the challenges Our service is also using APIs to enable the download of information (about museums for example) that will be displayed on the user's screen.

    The App will also be linked to our database and have access to users' profiles in order to be able to match them with an itinary. Also, this matching process is always enhancing its performance with the help of Artificial Intelligence. The first matches are performed on the basis of information that the user provided. Then, everytime an hitchhiker has been matched to an itinary, the app will ask for feedback about the relavancy of the match. If a user indicates that the itinary provided was uninteresting, he will be asked to provide details about the reason. With this information, the application will progressively learn to match the user with more relevant places.
